“The Cottages environment is welcoming and, with only 10 elders, not overwhelming. Rather than shared rooms, endless hallways and giant dining rooms, our private rooms and bathrooms lead to a sense of security and engagement with the care givers and other elders, the “family” in each cottage. Many people describe the “wow” when they walk into the cottage and the “ahh” when they settle in.”

The multi-site THRIVE Research Collaborative—The Research Initiative Valuing Eldercare—conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the processes and outcomes of the Green House model. Green House representatives were engaged as partners from the outset, helping to shape the research questions and ultimately evolving their model based on the findings. If only all partnerships were as collaborative and impactful.”
